About 55-60 billion farmed animals are killed every year to give meat to the world’s population. Continuing at the same rate as now, we will reach 100 billion dead animals per year in 2050. Added to this over 100 billion kilograms of fish and shellfish are killed globally each year to feed people.
In particular, cattle, pigs and birds are exposed to profound suffering during their short life. By minimizing our consumption of meat, dairy and fish we can dramatically reduce animal suffering and reduce the number of animals who lose their lives in food.
